This is a very delayed post, however, last November, I took my family to Queensland, Australia for my little sisters wedding. It was a magical time catching up with family, seeing nieces and nephews I’ve never seen before and meeting the man that would soon be my brother-in-law.
On the second to last day of being in Australia, my family took a little picnic and hike up in the O’Reilly’s Park Mountains and it was amazing. The trail that we took was called Tree Top Walk. If you’re afraid of heights, this one is not recommended for you. But, if you are fine with heights, this trail will take your breath away.
Location: O’Reilly’s Park, located approximately 1.5 hours outside of Brisbane, Australia. I couldn’t tell you directions because it took me long enough to get used to driving on the other side of the road. But if you want more information, here is a link to their website.
Difficulty: 1/5, easy hike, just hold on.
Kid Friendly: Yes, we had as young as 18 months old walking along with us. It was a short little trail and it was all fenced.
Stroller/ADA Accessible: The bridges were quite narrow so I’m not sure that a stroller or wheelchair could fit however, there were many paths around the area that both items would work well there.
Description: This was a beautiful, short trail with the most amazing views. You start on the one-way trail at ground level and it quickly ramps up to 50 feet off the ground. As you are going along, you’ll come to a ladder which you can climb to the very top of the tree line and look out on the valley and mountains surrounding the area. This was a very surreal experience and I’m so glad that I did it. If you’re ever in this area, I highly recommend taking this trail.
O’Reilly’s Park has many trails to take. I wish I had more time there to explore them all!
