Hobbit Trail, Florence, OR

This is a cute little trail that leads to a quaint, open and quirky little beach area. I wouldn’t call this a hike, per se, however, I also wouldn’t use this trail, carrying things (and kids) to get to the beach as it is quite steep in some areas. If you’re looking for a nice little trail on your way to a nice walk along the beach, this is perfect!!

Location: Hobbits Trail Trail-head is located along Hwy 101 approximately 15 miles south of Yachats, OR. There is a small parking lot on the east side of the road, the trail head is on the opposite side (Right side if you’re heading south)

Difficulty: 2/5, this trail has some bumps, logs, and steps along the way and is quite steep in some areas.

Kid Friendly: Yes, this is the perfect length for little legs, and the reward of the beach at the end is perfect. You may need to help them up some big steps!

Stroller Accessible: NOPE, sorry this one is not for strollers, it is narrow in some areas, lots of logs to climb over and bumps in the road, not to mention (because it’s already been mentioned) there are steps!

ADA Accessible: One day I would love to have tons of hikes, or trails, that are ADA Accessible, however, this isn’t one, but I’ll be on the look out for some!

Description: This little 1/2 mile trail to the beach is a sweet trail through the woods towards the beach. I loved the sandy path and growing up in Australia, this gave me a little reminder of my roots. Some parts of the path are covered with tree canopies which make it a little hobbit-ish (If that’s even a word).

If you’re looking for a nice hike along the coast, try the Hecenta Head Hike which starts at the same place as this one.
