Two weeks ago my oldest (6yrs) started first grade. She has been a great little hiking buddy this summer and is always up for an adventure. It took a few days for us to get used to her being in first grade and being gone most of the day. She has made many friends and is having a great time.
A few days later, my 4 yr old started his second year of preschool. He goes three days a week and loves it. It took him a few days to get back into the groove of school but he is making friends and having fun. He is my sensitive guy and we’ve had to make a few adjustments hiking with a little guy that has a Sensory Processing Disorder, however, it is through hiking that we realized this and we have made some giant leaps forward to help him.
Having the older two gone at school leaves me at home with my sweet little 2 year old who is just as rambunctious and crazy as can be. He loves hiking and would walk as far as his little legs could carry him before he begged to get into the hiking backpack.
With the start of school we have not been able to do as many hikes as I would like, or had planned to do. Mason (4yr old) only has school Monday, Wednesday, Friday so we planned to do hiking on Tuesday and THursday. However, with the beginning of school, also came the back-to-school colds. UGH!!!!! All but one of us have been struck by the dreaded cold. Fevers, sneezing, coughing, running nose, you name it, we’ve “enjoyed” it.
So hiking has been placed on hold until we are all feeling better, which I hope is coming soon. In the mean time, I’ve been looking up places to go hiking and have found many beautiful areas around Oregon so I hope to get to them soon. I will also be putting lists of hikes to take around other states.
Hike on, Mamas!!!!
